ON THE FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY, January 6, our Organist, David Schrader, will mark his thirtieth anniversary at Church of the Ascension. We will celebrate this milestone with a Sung Mass at 6:30 in the evening followed by a reception to honor David. We at Church of the Ascension ought to be very grateful to God indeed to have an organist of David’s caliber to serve here glorifying God for three decades.
Please mark your calendars, and plan to be here for Mass at 6:30 in the evening on January 6, when the Mass will be offered in thanksgiving for David’s ministry of music among us, and please plan to celebrate David’s anniversary at the reception following the Mass.
To David and to us at Church of the Ascension, my wish for him and for us “together” is ad multos annos, to many more years!
Thank you.

Weekday Offices and Masses Move to Narthex
As a cost-cutting measure during the cold-weather months, the nave of Church of the Ascension has its heating and lighting reduced to a minimum Monday through Saturday, and Masses and daily offices held in the narthex (which is heated and well lighted). The narthex "chapel" is configured with a newly built altar, a row of kneelers for reception of Holy Communion, and chairs for the congregation. With some adjustments, the arrangement mirrors that of the church. Celebrant and server enter from the sacristy through Wheeler Hall. The high altar is illuminated during the daily services. Join us as we keep the Church's weekday liturgical life in slightly cozier but no less dignified quarters.
