Pastoral Ministry & Other Sacraments
Pastoral care is a ministry of all Christians to be demonstrated in all relationships at all times and in all places. In a parish, pastoral care and the Sacraments are also a primary responsibility of the Rector, shared by assisting clergy, staff and lay persons, including licensed or appointed Lay Eucharistic Ministers or trained Pastoral Care Visitors.
To make further inquiry about a sacramental ministry or to request pastoral care in any way not indicated below, please directly contact the church office ([email protected]), or any member of the clergy, or the Rector. |
Saturday Healing Mass |
Saturday Healing Mass provides a weekly opportunity for any individual to receive laying on of hands with prayers and anointing. The mass begins at 10:00 a.m. each Saturday and is preceded by Morning Prayer at 9:40 a.m. Anointing and prayers may also be arranged at anytime by contact any member of the clergy. See our weekly schedule.

Confession |
Provided for in the Book of Common Prayer as The Reconciliation of a Penitent, Confession is offered from 10:30-10:45 a.m. each Sunday in the Confessional in the Ascension nave, or by appointment with any priest of the parish.

Confirmations |
Confirmation is the Rite by which one baptized as an infant or young child makes an adult commitment to the Christian faith (confirming the commitments previously made for him or her by others in Baptism). Confirmation also provides a membership opportunity in the Episcopal Church for those previously baptized in any Christian tradition that does not include Bishops in Apostolic Succession. Those wishing to become Episcopalian who were previously Confirmed in another tradition with bishops (Roman Catholic, Orthodox and some Lutheran churches) are normally "received" rather than confirmed. Related questions may be addressed to the Rector or any member of the parish clergy.

Below are details from four of the six clerestory 'sacrament windows' surrounding the high altar in the sanctuary at Ascension. Why six windows and not seven? There is no window representing the Eucharist, as it is represented by the altar itself and the Bread of Life continuously present in the tabernacle there. Sadly, the provenance of the windows is presently unknown. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Ascension Rector. From left to right: Holy Baptism, Confirmation, Ordination, and Extreme Unction.
